According to reliable sources, due to poor sales, this year’s iPhone 13 mini is expected to be the last 5.4-inch model Apple will provide in its flagship product series. Apple does not plan to launch the 5.4-inch iPhone 14 mini, and the mini product line will end after the iPhone 13 series.
According to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple will switch to offering two 6.1-inch iPhones and two 6.7-inch iPhones in 2022, so the standard iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro will have these two size options.
Pegatron is Apple’s second-largest iPhone assembler after Foxconn. In February this year, it spent US$14.2 million to purchase the land rights to build a factory in Chennai, India. Before this expenditure, its board of directors approved a proposal at the end of 2020 to spend US$150 million to build its first iPhone manufacturing plant in the country.
Earlier, Apple suspended its partnership with Pegatron in November 2020 because it discovered that this major iPhone supplier had violated labor regulations in a student labor project.
Due to these violations, Apple has monitored Pegatron. Although the supplier’s current iPhone business is not expected to be affected, it initially predicted that it would lose some iPhone 12 orders to other Apple suppliers Luxshare.
Although Pegatron may also receive a small portion of orders for the 6.1-inch iPhone 13 standard model in the new iPhone lineup, Foxconn will still be the main assembler of the entire iPhone 13 series in 2021. According to DigiTimes, Luxshare Precision will also become one of Apple’s iPhone production partners this year.
