HarmonyOS: Huawei’s October 2022 security patch details have been released
Huawei recently released the EMUI October 2022 security patch information for Huawei’s global consumers, and now the HarmonyOS October 2022 patch information is available for Chinese units. The company has not yet released this patch update to any devices, but eligible models will receive the improved security version in the near future.
The Chinese tech giant Huawei has been continuously providing monthly security patch updates to its eligible devices. A monthly update is also required for the gadget because any updates given by the manufacturer with enhancements are crucial for users.
If there is an issue with a device after it is launched by the firm, the problem is remedied through the update itself. In addition, the corporation only sends new features to users via OTA (over-the-air). Huawei has always been at the forefront of monthly security patches, which means that all Huawei devices that are eligible have received fresh firmware with some enhancements and new features.
Similarly, the October 2022 security patch update resolves some known issue problems on your device, bringing it back to life and providing a better experience. If your device requires it, the October 2022 update will include some new and useful features for your Huawei smartphone. The October 2022 security patch is now available for both HarmonyOS 2.0 and HarmonyOS 3.0 beta devices.
The most recent October 2022 HarmonyOS security patch details mention fixes for 26 CVEs in third-party libraries, 12 CVEs in the kernel, 19 CVEs in the system, and 4 CVEs in applications. This bulletin provides information on the security flaws that security patch 2022-10-01 has addressed.

Huawei Launches New ‘Scan to Go’ Feature with HarmonyOS NEXT
Huawei has introduced a new ‘Scan to Go’ feature with HarmonyOS NEXT. This enhancement improves the existing code-scanning feature, simplifying the process and reducing the steps needed to scan a QR code for various tasks.
An ordinary code scan feature requires several steps to complete the task. Users need to scan the QR code, after which the feature identifies the app to which the QR code belongs, finds the app, opens it, and then searches for the scan code entry again.
This process is often time-consuming. However, Huawei has changed this with HarmonyOS NEXT. The new ‘Scan to Go’ feature allows users to enter the code interface of any app directly, eliminating the need for multiple taps and a lengthy procedure.
If you don’t have the required app on your Huawei device, the ‘Scan to Go’ feature will automatically direct you to the app’s download page on the AppGallery for easy access.
The ‘Scan to Go’ feature in HarmonyOS NEXT supports all types of QR codes and is available in the camera app of Huawei devices. Users can also add this feature to the control center or the lock screen for added convenience.
The feature supports a ‘one-click scan’ whether your phone is locked or unlocked, allowing you to use it for payments, ordering food, booking rides, paying rent and electricity bills, express deliveries, and more.
‘Scan to Go’ also includes automatic zoom, capable of scanning an 18 x 18 cm code from 18 meters away under appropriate lighting conditions. In low light, it achieves 92% accuracy using low-light algorithms with a scanning delay of 550 ms.
This is just the beginning, and there could be even more hidden features that Huawei will reveal to consumers with the first beta rollout in the coming months.
