As expected, the Chinese company OnePlus just unveiled the OnePlus Ace, the first member of a new smartphone family that will define the company’s mid-range offering.

This Android smartphone is equipped with a MediaTek SoC, offers several memory configurations (up to the most forceful 12 + 512 GB), and allows rapid charging at 150W, which was already known in broad terms (even though it will have a twin designated for the Indian market).

OnePlus Ace is official: Features and specifications

The new OnePlus Ace, which was just unveiled in China, has a lot of cool features and aims to wink at gamers with a few gimmicks. The SoC is MediaTek’s Dimensity 8100-Max, a modified version of the Dimensity 8100 that includes the HyperBoost game frame stabilization engine, artificial intelligence, and capabilities tailored to video capture, particularly at night.

There are plenty of heat dissipation devices to keep temperatures down and ensure optimal performance. In addition to a dissipation area of 35198.2 mm 2, there’s a vapor chamber and the world’s first super-crystalline graphite cooling system.

The OnePlus Ace has a big 6.7-inch AMOLED display with Full HD + resolution, 120 Hz refresh rate, and 1000 Hz touch sampling rate, which is similar to the Realme GT Neo 3 cousin. It’s also the first smartphone from the Chinese company to feature a front camera that’s housed in a circular hole in the middle rather than in the left corner, and it’s one of the few from the company that doesn’t include the comfy and iconic alert slider.

It has flat glass surfaces in both the front and rear (the frame is made of plastic), with a special “cascade” processing in the rear body, or at least in the left half of it. The rectangular plate that holds the photographic compartment is also located at the back, on the top left, with the three sensors occupying the three vertices of a triangle. Finally, the OnePlus logo is unusually placed, not in the middle as is customary, but in the lower right corner of the body.

As expected, the photographic sector has three sensors: the main one, a 50-megapixel Sony IMX766 with optical stabilization, is flanked by an 8-megapixel ultra-wide angle sensor and a 2-megapixel macro sensor. On the other side, the front camera is 16 megapixels.

A very extensive networking compartment and a 4500 mAh battery with support for fast charging via cable 150W SuperVOOC by OPPO round out the kit. ColorOS 12.1 is the operating system, which is based on Android 12 (the “twin” OnePlus 10R should come with OxygenOS 12).
