Huawei Pura 80 Pro+ Magic: Blowing Out Candles

Published

Huawei Pura 80 Pro+

Birthdays and blowing out candles go hand-in-hand. Now, Huawei is adding a twist with its Pura 80 Pro+!

They have shown how this phone can surprisingly blow out candles, turning a basic ritual into something more interesting.

Huawei’s Chairman, Richard Yu, recently demonstrated a fun and surprising feature of the Pura 80 Pro+. He showed that by playing music with strong “bass” on the phone, the sound waves are powerful enough to extinguish a candle flame. It’s a unique way the device uses its audio capabilities.

Within a second, the Pura 80 Pro+ blew out the burning candle. While the illustration seemed quite funny, it defines that the top-end handset has a really strong bass.

According to Richard Yu, the huawei pro+ stands out because it has a stronger sound output, specifically in its bass. This higher “amplitude” means the phone’s speakers move more air. It’s these powerful air vibrations that are strong enough to blow out a burning candle.

The Huawei executive explained the Pura 80 Pro+’s powerful bass by using a simple example. Imagine hitting two drums with the same strength, but one drum is bigger than the other. The larger drum will vibrate more, and that’s exactly why it makes a deeper, stronger bass sound. The Pura 80 Pro+ works similarly, using its design to create those strong vibrations.

The Pura 80 Pro+ applies the same principle. It has a special “open sound cavity” design, meaning it uses the entire inside of the device to help produce sound. Because of this smart internal structure, the phone’s overall volume is boosted by 10 times.

The Pura 80 Pro+ makes its sound so powerful partly because its speakers are 10 times larger than those found in typical smartphones (8 cubic centimeters compared to 0.8 cubic centimeters). More space means better sound.

On top of that, the Huawei Pura 80 Pro+ creates sound with 54% more “amplitude” than other phones. This simply means its bass is much stronger and feels more “all-around” or “immersive.” All these changes together are what let the Pura 80 Pro+ actually blow out candles with its speakers.

Huawei Pura 80 Global: EMUI 15, Not HarmonyOS

Published

Huawei Pura 80

Huawei’s Pura 80 series just launched around the world, but there was a surprise for fans: these new phones are using EMUI software, which is based on Android, instead of Huawei’s own HarmonyOS. This wasn’t what many loyal Huawei users were hoping for.

When the Huawei Pura 80 series launched in China with native HarmonyOS, global users got their hopes up. However, those hopes were dashed when the international Pura 80 models were revealed to be running EMUI 15 instead.

Essentially, the US government placed restrictions on Huawei a few years ago. These restrictions made it very difficult for Huawei to use certain American technologies and services, including Google’s Android services (like the Play Store and Google Maps) and the microchips needed to run many advanced features.

HarmonyOS was created to be its own operating system. However, early versions included Android parts, which was smart. This allowed Huawei to keep existing EMUI apps working, rather than forcing users into a HarmonyOS-only app world immediately.

Huawei spent several years developing its own dedicated app environment behind the scenes. They intentionally let users continue using their existing EMUI/Android apps until their mobile technology was fully optimized for native applications.

HarmonyOS NEXT, introduced in early 2024, signaled Huawei’s native OS shift. This version supports only pure HarmonyOS apps, shedding its Android past. Since its announcement, Huawei has engaged thousands of top Chinese app developers to build native apps, which largely appeared on AppGallery in 2024.

In China, HarmonyOS boasts a flourishing native app ecosystem. However, outside of China, it’s the complete opposite. Because there aren’t enough native apps, Huawei has no current roadmap to bring its own OS to global users.

Global Huawei Pura 80 models feature EMUI 15, not HarmonyOS, due to app compatibility needs. Even so, EMUI 15 integrates numerous HarmonyOS 5 features, such as advanced AI and personalization.”
