HarmonyOS 6 Unites NearLink & Bluetooth Auto-Switching

Huawei is integrating its connectivity technologies directly into the HarmonyOS 6 user interface. The company has officially detailed a new Control Center toggle that lets the system intelligently switch between the high-bandwidth of NearLink and the broad compatibility of Bluetooth, creating a single, unified wireless experience.

In accordance with the previous details, the HarmonyOS 6.0 NearLink & Bluetooth  switch will show up in the Control Center. It merges two different features into one tab.

Earlier, the functions of this feature were unclear. But Huawei revealed the details of this NearLink + Bluetooth button. The company mentioned the following points:

  • When a NearLink device is connected, the Control Center will display the name of the respective NearLink device.
  • Look in the Control Center to see your connected Bluetooth device.

  •  To manage both NearLink and Bluetooth devices, simply press and hold the “NearLink | Bluetooth” switch.

This new feature merges both tools into one, letting you connect to nearby devices effortlessly and without interruption.

Though no additional information was provided, this strategic enhancement serves as a strong indicator of Huawei’s future roadmap for its ecosystem.

Having successfully rolled out HarmonyOS NEXT to over 20 million devices, Huawei is leveraging that momentum to ensure its next software iteration is its most interesting and user-centric yet.

Huawei’s brand refresh continues. After unveiling the “Ultimate Design” premium handset brand, the company has now introduced a new logo for its “Smart Selection” unit, a testament to its longstanding excellence.

What is HarmonyOS Smart Selection?

The trademark embodies Huawei’s strategic direction to create a distinct identity for its high-caliber HarmonyOS product line. Concurrently, the company is developing a platform to facilitate the registration, selection, and procurement of devices within the HarmonyOS ecosystem.

Earlier, this term used to be called “Huawei Smart Selection. However, Yu Chengdong, the Chairman of Huawei Consumer Business, upgraded the name to HarmonyOS Smart Selection in June this year.

Huawei has introduced a logo for its “HarmonyOS Smart Select” unit, a category dedicated to smart hardware across diverse fields such as smart home, sports and health, travel, and office solutions.

On September 30, Huawei Smart Life shared a post on Weibo revealing the first look at the HS logo. The alphabet H is housed in an S-like boundary. It says:

Everything is connected, integrated, and coexisting! #HarmonyOSSmartSelect# The logo is officially released! The HarmonyOS Smart Select logo evolved from the abbreviation HS (HarmonyOS Select), and the circle outline symbolizes the inclusiveness of the HarmonyOS ecosystem.”

30M Devices Expected to Run HarmonyOS 5.0 by 2025

With 17 million installations already recorded, HarmonyOS 5.0 is on track to reach 30 million units by the end of 2025. Recent leaks indicate the self-developed platform is gaining traction due to its smarter, safer capabilities.

A new leak from Weibo user @BeijingDigitalMaster suggests HarmonyOS 5.0 has already reached around 18 million installations, with a forecast to exceed 30 million devices by the end of 2025.

This growth is achievable thanks to the software’s constant enhancements and new features. In recent months, the company has added numerous useful functions to significantly improve the user experience.

That suggests the HarmonyOS ecosystem has entered a crucial stage of large-scale development. It focuses on offering the best performance of the device and enhancing the privacy, imaging, and AI segments for users

In accordance with Zhu Yonggang, President of Huawei Mobile Cloud Service, HarmonyOS is designed to bring comprehensive innovation to China’s tech industry. He made this statement during the Huawei Connect 2025 event.

The primary goal is to break the Android-iOS duopoly in the Chinese market, thereby helping consumers reduce their reliance on foreign products. Beyond this domestic focus, the company is also eyeing the global expansion of HarmonyOS for its wearables and smart handsets.

HarmonyOS once again pushed iOS to the second position in the Chinese smartphone OS market. Now it aims to challenge Android’s share in the competition.

Following HarmonyOS PC, Google Announces launch Android PC

In a new teaser for its fans, Google has not only hinted at an Android PC but has finally pinned down a launch date: 2026. This confirms the plan to debut the first Android-powered computer next year, complete with a suite of dynamic features.

At the Qualcomm Snapdragon 2025 Summit, Google confirmed a 2026 launch for its Android PC and outlined its vision for the innovative product.

Sameer Samat, President of the Android Ecosystem at Google, took the stage to outline the vision for the Android PC. He stated it would carefully balance introducing new changes with maintaining the reliable user experience of ChromeOS.

“We’re basically taking the ChromeOS experience, and we’re re-baselining the technology underneath it on Android. That combination is something we are super excited about for next year.”

The upcoming Android PC has been described as “incredible” by Qualcomm. Google’s Sameer Samat added that the firm is prioritizing the acceleration of AI advancements on Android for a rapid deployment to the laptop form factor, a step intended to create a seamlessly integrated ecosystem.
