Galaxy S20 FE

Samsung has concluded software support for the Galaxy S20 FE, designating the October 2025 security patch as its final update. While currently updated, the device is now officially end-of-life.

The Galaxy S20 FE belongs to Samsung’s “Fan Edition” series, designed to deliver key flagship features at a more affordable price. Its popularity stemmed from offering powerful performance and practical capabilities without the premium cost of a top-tier model.

Samsung’s new extended support policy guarantees seven years of updates for recent models. However, the Galaxy S20 FE predates this commitment, which is why its security updates are now concluding.

The successor of the Galaxy S20 FE, the Galaxy S21 FE, is also nearing the end of its support, while the new Galaxy S25 FE is in its first year of a seven-year update plan. This means the S25 FE will continue to receive both Android and security updates until 2032.

Galaxy S26 Plus: A possible delay for the One UI 8.5 beta?

Galaxy S26 Plus

According to reports, Samsung is in the process of developing One UI 8.5, with an initial launch planned to coincide with the Galaxy S26 series. Recent developments, however, suggest a potential delay in the S26 series launch, possibly to after January 2026, which may consequently impact the rollout of the new software interface.

This postponement appears to stem from Samsung’s planned overhaul of its phone lineup, where earlier leaks indicated the regular Galaxy S26 would be rebranded as “Pro” and a slim “Edge” model would succeed the “Plus.

It seems Samsung has had a change of heart! According to new reports, the company is canceling those plans and going back to the lineup we know: the standard Galaxy S26, the S26 Plus, and the S26 Ultra. This means the Plus is back, and the Pro and Edge models are no more.

This delay could also impact One UI 8.5. The late development of the Galaxy S26 Plus may postpone the One UI 8.5 Beta release. Furthermore, if the Galaxy Unpacked event is pushed to late February or early March, users will have to wait longer for the next major update.

The One UI 8.5 Beta may still launch in late November for an early look. However, a phone delay could lead to a months-long beta, trying users’ patience. The other possibility is that Samsung delays the beta itself.

While frustrating, these delays may have a strategic upside. The extra time allows Samsung to refine the hardware and software, with significant upgrades anticipated for performance and cameras. And, the return to a straightforward naming strategy enhances market clarity.

The delay might be disappointing, but it promises a more polished product. With no confirmed dates from Samsung, users must wait for an official launch announcement.
