The Galaxy S22 received the fifth One UI 5.0 beta update. Is this final update??
Recently, Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22+, and Galaxy S22 Ultra got the fifth One UI 5.0 beta update but this update is only for users in China. The new update for the Galaxy S22 series comes with the firmware version ZVJA. The size of the update is 471.16MB (for Galaxy S22 Ultra).
With the release of the new update, the company has made different types of claims. The company says the Galaxy S22 One UI 5.0 beta update removes Bixby text calls, fixes several bugs, as well as fixes camera autofocus failure and poor image quality due to the shutdown of the Galaxy Watch plugin.
The new software also fixes an issue that prevented users from adding fingerprints. Some people also complained about the disappearance of the phone unlock sound, and Samsung has fixed that problem with the latest update. Other issues included loud noises even when the call volume was low, wallpaper incomplete, missing the close all option from the multitasking menu, and forcibly closing the app while editing images. Samsung has fixed all those problems too.
Samsung said that it has removed the Bixby text call feature from the new One UI 5.0 beta update. The Bixby text call feature, which was announced last week, uses AI to convert voice (on call) to text.
Reports also claim that the new beta version of One UI 5.0 brings smoother animations. This means the animations are similar to the Galaxy Z Flip 4 running One UI 4.1.
This could be the final beta version of One UI 5.0, and it could be released in the next few days in other markets including Germany, India, the UK, and the US. Samsung said it will release the stable version of Android 13-based One UI 5.0 for the Galaxy S22 series before the end of this month.
The main question for the users of Galaxy S22 is whether this is the final update or even after this Samsung can give any update to its Galaxy S22 users. Although this is a beta update after this Samsung will release its stable update.

Now, in a noteworthy move, Samsung is expanding its DIY repair support to include its foldable models, starting with the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5. This means users will soon have the option to tackle repairs at home, marking a shift in Samsung’s approach to empower users in maintaining and fixing their foldable devices.
This development follows Google’s recent introduction of DIY repair options for its Pixel Fold, though it’s worth noting that repair parts for the Pixel Fold can be relatively expensive, such as the inner screen alone costing $900. Huawei’s big boss just hinted at exciting new things for their software in 2024! Expect fresh products built on their latest HarmonyOS NEXT system.
During the Fan Club (Pollen) Annual Conference 2023, Yu Chengdong announced that Huawei plans to reveal several advanced products next year. He also predicted the launch of HarmonyOS NEXT products and improved native application experiences in 2024.
The CEO didn’t share when exactly the new software and native applications would be released, but we can anticipate the official reveal to happen in early 2024.
Huawei needs to make HarmonyOS fully independent and essential without relying on Android libraries soon. Hopefully, the company will speed up its efforts in the coming days.
