Good news! China Telecom has officially launched the new Huawei Maimang 40 smartphone. It is packed with top-tier features and major upgrades, but its most striking aspect is definitely its stylish design.
The Huawei Maimang 40 has a very different camera design this time. Instead of the usual round or double-ring camera area, it has a rectangular bar at the top. This bar holds a large main camera lens and two smaller camera rings.
You will find a vibrant 6.7-inch OLED screen on the Maimang 40, offering a super smooth 120Hz experience. Despite its slim 7.59mm profile and light 182-gram weight, this phone is built tough. It has even passed rigorous drop tests, earning double five-star certifications from the China Quality Center and Swiss SGS, meaning it’s highly resistant to accidental drops.

It offers a 360-degree anti-drop design and supports wet hand touch. On the front side, the device has a pill-shaped cutout, housing a selfie camera sensor.
The Huawei Maimang 40, launched by China Telecom, has a unique back cover that’s split into sections. It is available in White, Black, and a cool two-tone Green and Black. On the Green + Black version, the camera is in the black part of the back.
The Maimang 40 has a powerful 50MP main camera on the back. It uses a special “RYYB” sensor (which is good at capturing light) and is a decent size (1/1.56-inch). Huawei says they have improved it to let in 40% more light, which means better photos, especially in dim conditions.
It has also enhanced the low-light camera performance. The handset packs a 6100mAh battery with 40W fast charging and gets 57% charged in just 30 minutes.

The Huawei Mate 70 Air is gaining notice for its superior battery capacity. Now, reports indicate the upcoming Mate 80 flagship could feature a significantly larger battery, ranging from 6500 to 7000mAh.
Following the Mate 70 Air’s debut, predictions for the Mate 80’s battery capacity surfaced on Weibo, and one now seems to be correct.
SuperDimensional said that the Huawei Mate 80 series battery capacity may range between 6500 to 7000mAh. If true, it would be a major improvement over the past few generations.
In accordance with earlier reports from DigitalChatStation, Huawei is working on higher-density batteries and has tested a 7000mAh cell. The tipster adds, however, that this solution is slated to debut with the Pura 90 series in 2026.
The tipster further mentioned that Huawei plans to seed a 6000mAh cell to the Mate 80 series. This is already a big upgrade over the previous-gen Mate handsets.
By introducing a 5700mAh cell and altering specifications for global variants, the Pura 80 series initiated the first dynamic change in Huawei’s battery strategy this year—a move perceived as major within the industry.

The upcoming Mate 80 series may see Huawei building on this progress. The company’s recent launch of an ultra-thin phone with a 6500mAh battery suggests this capacity could be replicated in the next Mate models.
The information remains unconfirmed for now. Nevertheless, in accordance with the tipster, Huawei might start the pre-order phase for the new flagship as early as next week, which would lead to official revelations on the matter shortly thereafter.
