Huawei’s next mid-range foldable to use Kirin 8020 5G.
Huawei could power its next mid-range foldable, the Nova Flip 2, with the Kirin 8020 5G. For other devices launching this year, the company may opt to use existing chips, but with some improvements.
In accordance with a tipster, Huawei will focus on meeting the needs of HarmonyOS 4.2 and 4.3 users this year. Thus, it may not offer major upgrades for its future devices.
A blogger on Weibo says that upcoming Huawei devices like the Pocket 2 Premium Edition, Nova Flip 2, and the second tri-fold smartphone will likely only have small upgrades to their Kirin chips. This means they will continue to use the chips that are already available, just with minor improvements.

For example, the Pocket 2 Premium version might come with a Kirin 9020A processor. Huawei’s customer service has stated that this device will be 15% faster than the older P50 Pocket.
Rumor has it that the Huawei Nova Flip 2, a mid-range foldable, is being developed with the Kirin 8020 5G chip. We might see it debut in August, aligning with the launch timeframe of the original model.
Huawei’s Nova Flip foldable entered the mid-range market (priced from 5288 yuan), bringing users delightful pet themes, entertaining AI on the cover screen, a beautiful design, and a durable hinge for a great experience.
It debuted with a mid-range Kirin 8000 chip, which has the following CPU configuration:
- 1 large core @ 2.40GHz
- 3 medium cores @ 2.18GHz
- 4 small cores @ 1.84GHz
it looks like Huawei is planning to use the Kirin 8020 chip in the upcoming Nova Flip 2 foldable phone. This same chip has already been used in the Nova 14 Ultra, and it has a CPU setup that includes:
- 1 super core running at 2.28GHz
- 3 medium cores running at 2.05GHz
- 4 small cores running at 1.3GHz
Huawei is planning a big software update for the Nova Flip 2, bringing the stable version of HarmonyOS 5.0. We do not know all the other new features yet, but we expect to find out more soon.

After the Air phone, the Mate 80 Boasts a Huge Battery.
The Huawei Mate 70 Air is gaining notice for its superior battery capacity. Now, reports indicate the upcoming Mate 80 flagship could feature a significantly larger battery, ranging from 6500 to 7000mAh.
Following the Mate 70 Air’s debut, predictions for the Mate 80’s battery capacity surfaced on Weibo, and one now seems to be correct.
SuperDimensional said that the Huawei Mate 80 series battery capacity may range between 6500 to 7000mAh. If true, it would be a major improvement over the past few generations.
In accordance with earlier reports from DigitalChatStation, Huawei is working on higher-density batteries and has tested a 7000mAh cell. The tipster adds, however, that this solution is slated to debut with the Pura 90 series in 2026.
The tipster further mentioned that Huawei plans to seed a 6000mAh cell to the Mate 80 series. This is already a big upgrade over the previous-gen Mate handsets.
By introducing a 5700mAh cell and altering specifications for global variants, the Pura 80 series initiated the first dynamic change in Huawei’s battery strategy this year—a move perceived as major within the industry.

The upcoming Mate 80 series may see Huawei building on this progress. The company’s recent launch of an ultra-thin phone with a 6500mAh battery suggests this capacity could be replicated in the next Mate models.
The information remains unconfirmed for now. Nevertheless, in accordance with the tipster, Huawei might start the pre-order phase for the new flagship as early as next week, which would lead to official revelations on the matter shortly thereafter.

Mate 70 Air vs. iPhone Air: The Slimness Showdown.
In accordance with shots, there isn’t much difference between the two Air models when kept beside each other. Due to the right-angle frame, the Mate 70 Air gets curvy and sleeker edges parallel to the iPhone Air, which has slightly flat sides.

Mate 70 Air vs. iPhone Air
You can check the real-life photos of the Huawei Mate 70 Air and iPhone Air below.
The Mate 70 Air is slightly heavier than the 165-gram iPhone Air. Nevertheless, this extra mass and thickness are strategic, allowing Huawei to incorporate a full suite of features without the compromises Apple had to make.
Compared to the iPhone Air’s 6.5-inch OLED, the Mate 70 Air boasts a larger screen and a dazzling 4000-nit peak brightness (1000 nits brighter). Performance is also flexible, thanks to the availability of two different Kirin chipsets.
The Mate 70 Air’s advantages extend to a superior 6500mAh battery and powerful cameras. If you’re looking for a truly slim device that doesn’t sacrifice performance or features, this is the phone to consider.
