S27 Ultra’s S Pen Could Echo S21’s Big Flaw

Galaxy S27 Ultra

Samsung fans might see a big change with the next Galaxy S27 Ultra. A new rumor says the phone might not have the S Pen built into it anymore.

This is similar to what Samsung did with the S21 Ultra, where you had to buy the S Pen separately. So, if you love having that stylus ready to go inside your phone, you might have to get used to carrying it as an extra item if you want to use it with the S27 Ultra.

In accordance with  a trusted leaker from China, who shared the news on X today, Samsung’s upcoming top-tier phone, the Galaxy S27 Ultra, might not have the usual built-in slot for the S Pen.

S27 Ultra may echo S21 Ultra’s S Pen move:

  • The S27 Ultra might repeat history, making the S Pen an extra purchase, much like the S21 Ultra did.
  • If the S27 Ultra follows the S21 Ultra’s lead, you’ll need to buy its S Pen separately.
  • We might see the S27 Ultra adopt the S21 Ultra’s strategy: S Pen sold separately.

The S27 Ultra could follow the S21 Ultra’s lead by not including an S Pen slot, meaning it would be an accessory you’d have to purchase separately. This leaker believes Samsung might continue making the S Pen an optional add-on for their phones.

S26 Ultra may be Samsung’s last full-fledged S Pen flagship:

The Galaxy S25 Ultra, launched recently, gave us a hint about the S Pen’s future. Samsung took away its Bluetooth features, which many saw as a clear signal that the iconic S Pen might not be a permanent fixture in their phones anymore.

If this latest rumor is correct, the Galaxy S26 Ultra could be the final phone to offer the complete.

Galaxy S26 Plus/Edge

After Samsung’s recent big event, we’re hearing more and more about next year’s best phones. The Galaxy S26 phones are still about six months away, but a new report shares a secret internal name and says the S26 Plus or Edge model will get a better camera.

A new report from Winfuture reveals Samsung’s internal codenames for the Galaxy S26 lineup: NPA1, NPA2, and NPA3 for the S26, S26+, and S26 Ultra respectively. The report clarifies that “NPA” means “Next Paradigm.

The report specifically notes that the Galaxy S26 Plus or S26 Edge will feature a 50MP ultrawide camera, a notable step up for the series.

The 50MP ultrawide camera, which brought a new level of landscape photography to the Galaxy S25 Ultra, is reportedly making its way to another variant in the next generation of Samsung phones.

The Galaxy S25 Plus and Edge feature a 12-megapixel sensor for the ultrawide camera. The 50-megapixel lens will offer better photos by capturing more details and colors. You can also expect 8K video recording at 30fps with an ultrawide camera.

“It looks like Samsung is changing things up for the Galaxy S26 series. Many reports say they’ll drop the ‘Plus’ model. The ‘Edge’ version is likely to step in and will come with improved cameras, possibly including a special zoom lens.

If Samsung combines the S26 Plus and Edge into one new phone, the S26 Edge might come with a special ‘Telephoto’ camera. This camera would be good for zooming in, offering a clear 10-megapixel picture with 3 times optical zoom.

Since the official announcement is more than half a year away, we can’t be sure these details are completely true. So, take these leaks lightly! We expect lots more interesting hints about the upcoming Galaxy phones to appear until Samsung’s next big event.
