Huawei launches HarmonyOS for PCs.
Huawei officially showed off its first computer operating system, Harmony OS PC, today at an event.
The event abstracted on Huawei’s HarmonyOS PC operating system and its importance for the Chinese computer market.
Huawei’s tablet and PC president, Zhu Dongdong, announced that HarmonyOS starts a new era for the company’Huawei has created a new version of its HarmonyOS specifically for computers. They remodeled it completely and improved three key areas merchandise.
Huawei’s enhance operating system now runs on all sorts of devices, including phones, tablets, smart TVs, watches, car systems, and computers.

The first part, called HarmonyOS Base, has things like the main core of HarmonyOS, software that makes things run fast (Ark Engine), security security (StarShield), and tools for developers (ArkTS, ArkUI, and DevEco). All these parts work together to make sure that software built for these computers runs really well.
HarmonyOS System: Huawei has created and ameliorate over 150 apps that only work on these computers. Plus, it can also use more than 2000 regular apps.
Zhu says that Huawei has also made its smart office features on HarmonyOS computers much better. This has alteration how you work, how disparate devices work together, how you log in, how multiple devices connect, how you use HarmonyOS AI, and other things to make it easier and more efficient.
Overall, HarmonyOS PC applications include various vertical domains to meet basic office precondition.
Using Things with HarmonyOS: Huawei points out that HarmonyOS PC can work with more than 1000 add-on devices. That’s 800 common things and 20 kinds of devices such as keyboards, mice, and monitors.
On the other hand, 250+ non-standard secondary devices, such as printers, tablets, scanners, and more, have qualified for compatibility certification.
HarmonyOS PC Features:
Looks and Graphics: This new system uses special technology called Ark graphics to make everything look better and run clearly. Ark graphics uses something called Fangtian Window, which helps show things on the screen quickly and efficiently. This is designed to feel natural and easy to use.
Smooth Performance: Because of Ark graphics, the computer will run smoothly even if you have lots of windows open at the same time. The window you’re using will run very smoothly, and it also helps the computer use less power, making it more stable and run better overall.
Security: HarmonyOS PC has a strong security system called StarShield to keep your computer safe. It can even find your computer very accurately if you lose it, thanks to something called Nearlink. So, if you can’t find your Huawei computer or another device, this new software can help you get it back!
Harmony OS PC
HarmonyOS PC also supports remote data erasure that safeguards your data from being leaked. Other features include distributed soft bus that supports keyboard and mouse sharing, cross-device collaboration, app continuation, and Huawei sharing.

Huawei’s latest HarmonyOS 5.0.5 update improves how well your device works and how stable it is. It does not include any big new features.
The HarmonyOS 5.0.5 update for Huawei phones comprise changes to things like ArkUI, how apps work (Ability), data handling (ArkData), and the AR Engine.
This update makes managing files easier on phones. To see the version, go to Settings > Device Name > Software Version > About this device and check the API.
The HarmonyOS 5.0.5 update will soon be available for the Mate 60, Mate 60 Pro, Mate X5, MatePad Pro 13.2, and MatePad Pro 11 2024. You can read all the details about the update further down.
Ability:
Now you can set the size of new windows (min/max width/height) using StartOptions. The C API can now use StartOptions to start apps and get info about how other processes start. It can also set how the window and dock icon look when an app starts.
ArkData;
UDMF can now take data and organize it in different ways. If your data has the same info repeated in different styles, UDMF can sort it into separate, clear structures.
AR Engine:
New depth estimation provides 3D perception capabilities, enabling measurement, volume estimation, etc.
ArkUI:
The system now has new tools for mouse wheel and scrolling. NavDestination can now tell when it’s being used (“active”) or not (“inactive”).
- The C API can now tell you the width, height, and X/Y position of whatever you touch on the screen.
- You can now easily clear any text that was showing before.
- The system can now create parts of the user interface without needing a window.
- When a component’s visible area changes, you can now control how often the system reacts to it.
- The ImageAnimator can now pause or play based on whether it’s visible on the screen.
- Picture-in-picture windows can now save UI states using LocalStorage to track main windows.
- The window management for PC / 2in1 devices now supports the main window size memory function.
- You can now change how blurry the shadow is around smaller or floating windows.
- You can now choose if smaller windows can show up on different screens while you are moving or resizing their main window..
- You can now adjust the blur of shadows around pop-up windows
- Added support for Float32 audio stream sampling format.
AVCodec Kit
- Video decoding now supports software decoding of MPEG2, MPEG4, and H.263.

Huawei is allegedly developing its first foldable PC, possibly named MateBook Fold Ultimate Design. This would join their “Ultimate Design” series, like the Mate XT and Mate 70 RS.
Many sources online say Huawei is making a new foldable laptop called MateBook Fold Ultimate Design.
The model number for this device has also been leaked, and it is HPR-W72.
It is also rumored that this first foldable computer from Huawei will come with 32GB of RAM and 2TB of storage. Some tipsters think it might be simply called Huawei MateBook RS, not MateBook Fold Ultimate Design.
