One UI 8 Watch Possible for Galaxy Watch (Not 7)

Galaxy Watch users might get a surprise update to One UI 8 Watch, skipping the usual One UI 7.Samsung is planning to skip it and release One UI 8 Watch directly to the Galaxy Watch. This would be the first time the company has bounded a version for its smartwatches.

One UI 6 Watch, built on Wear OS 5, is what is running on Galaxy Watches now. The next update should have been One UI 7, based on Wear OS 5.1.Still, information from an X user says Samsung will jump straight to One UI 8.

The main reason behind skipping the One UI 7 Watch seems to be that Samsung wants to keep its smartwatch software in line with its smartphone software.We assume Samsung phones to get One UI 8 (based on Android 16) in the next few months.

Starting as early as next month, Samsung might test One UI 8, with a full release around August or September. By not doing One UI 7, Samsung can make sure the software on their Galaxy Watches and Phones is the same version.

Samsung Galaxy Watch is getting an upgrade! By late 2026, it will be able to show you ‘Live Updates’ basically, real-time info from your apps. Google spilled the beans on this at their big developer event in 2025.

Live Updates is a feature created by Google. It is already being added to phones and tablets with the Android 16 update. However, smartwatches won’t get it until next year.

Your Galaxy Watch is getting ‘Live Updates’ thanks to something called the ‘Now Bar.’ This ‘Now Bar’ is already on Samsung phones, and it’s coming to your watch later this year with the One UI 8 Watch update.”

At first, the Now Bar on smartwatches will only show updates from Samsung apps and some Google apps. Later on, it might work with more apps when new software is released.

The full Live Updates feature, which can work with many other apps, will probably come in a future update, maybe with One UI 8.5 Watch or One UI 9 Watch in late 2026. When it comes, you will be able to see updates from more apps without needing to open them.

Google also plans to add more apps to this in the future. This means your Galaxy Watch will be much better at keeping you in the know and up-to-date with everything.

Samsung has led the foldable phone market for a long time, but now Huawei is giving them a run for their money. The Chinese company is catching up fast with its new, cool phones.

The Mate XT is thinner (3.6mm) than the Galaxy Z Fold 6 (5.6mm) when open. Plus, the Mate XT has more RAM (16GB vs. 12GB). Both have 1TB storage.

Huawei’s Mate XT is thinner (3.6mm open) and has more RAM (16GB) than Samsung’s top foldable (5.6mm open, 12GB RAM). Storage is the same (1TB).

Other Chinese companies, like Vivo, Oppo, and Xiaomi, are also gaining in the foldable market by offering phones with similar features at lower prices.

Samsung’s foldable phones remain dominant. To keep their lead, they are making phones thinner, managing heat better, and trying to cut production costs.

In spite of the fact that Huawei is growing quickly, Samsung is still number one when it comes to foldable phones.

Into the bargain, Samsung will soon release new foldable phones with fresh looks and features. And later this year, Samsung is also planning to launch its own “Tri-Fold” phone to compete directly with Huawei’s tri-fold model.

One UI 7.0: Removed some Features & Settings.

One UI 7.0 offers a new look, but also removes or renames some settings/features from One UI 6.

This update makes the phone easier and more fun to use with better animations and new looks. But some things work differently or are not there anymore compared to the old software.

The phone company made these changes to improve how you use your phone. They are removing things that are not needed anymore to make space for better stuff. Here’s a list of everything that’s been taken out or renamed in One UI 7.0.

Keep in mind – this article is only about features and settings, not how the phone looks. If something’s gone, it could be part of another setting now.

Home Screen:

The latest version of One UI does not have the 4×5 and 5×5 grid choices for your main screens and app list. You can now only pick 4×6 or 5×6. But, if you use the vertical app drawer (where apps scroll up), you can still change the number of columns.

Wallpapers:

Wallpapers that are similar are now in one place called “Featured.” This only affects those kinds of wallpapers, not the ones that are just pictures or solid colors.

Modes on lock screen:

If you used One UI 6.1, you saw your custom settings (“Routines”) on the Lock screen under “Modes and Routines.” That’s been removed. Now, in One UI 7.0, the “Modes” are located inside the “Now Bar.”

Sound and Vibration:

This settings section no longer offers Dolby Atmos for gaming, a part of One UI 6.x. It seems to be fused with Dolby Atmos in the new OS version.

Notifications:

Fewer Status Bar Icons: The option to “Show notification icons” has been removed. This likely means you’ll see a limited number of icons in the status bar.
Battery Percentage Relocated: The option to show the battery percentage in the status bar has been moved from the advanced notification settings to the main “Battery” section.

Display:

Full Screen Apps Gone: The option to force apps to run in full screen has been removed. This is likely because most apps are now optimized for various screen ratios.

Edge Panel Vibration Removed: The “Vibrate when the handle is touched” option for the Edge panels is no longer there. This vibration now happens by default in One UI 7.0.

Security and privacy:

Additional privacy controls renamed to Controls and alertsBiometrics is renamed to Screen Lock and biometricsPin app toggle renamed from Allow apps to be pinned from More security settingsTheft protection is moved to Lost device protection alongside Find my mobile.
