Galaxy A36 5G: One UI 8 (Android 16) Development Begins

Good news for Galaxy A36 5G users! Samsung has started testing One UI 8, which is based on Android 16, for your phone.
A test version, A366BXXU4BYG1, has been spotted. This means Samsung is actively working to bring this first major software update to the Galaxy A36 5G since it launched.
The Galaxy A36 5G originally came with One UI 7 (based on Android 15). Now, Samsung is preparing to upgrade it to One UI 8, which will bring a host of new features and improvements to its interface and overall performance.
The development of One UI 8 has been confirmed for the Galaxy A36 5G, thanks to a new test firmware spotted by @Alfaturk. It seems Samsung is busy, as they’ve also started One UI 8 development for other phones like the Galaxy A15 5G and Galaxy A16 5G.

Samsung’s new foldable phones, launching on July 9th, will be the first devices to come with One UI 8 pre-installed. Meanwhile, the One UI 8 Beta Program is only available for the Galaxy S25 series, with internal testing underway for a wider range of older flagships and mid-range models.
The One UI 8 beta is not as widely available for older devices, and the hype is lower than for One UI 7. Still, One UI 8 is expected to be a solid upgrade with new features and a refined interface.
Great news for Galaxy A36 5G owners! After the One UI 8 announcement at Galaxy Unpacked on July 9th, Samsung is expected to start pushing the stable update to more devices, including yours, soon after or in the next few months.

Samsung Galaxy S26 New Battery Technology Details

Get ready for a battery boost! Samsung’s Galaxy S26 phones, coming next year, are set to use new battery tech. This means your phone could last much longer on a single charge.
Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy S26 phones might get a special new safety feature for their batteries. This new ‘protection circuit’ helps stop the battery from being overcharged or fully drained, which can make your phone’s battery last longer over time. Think of it as a small, smart guard outside the battery, made of tiny electronic parts.
Samsung has picked a Korean company called ITM Semiconductor to provide special safety parts for their batteries. These parts use a unique material called ‘EMC.’ Think of EMC as a tough, protective plastic that wraps around tiny electronic bits, keeping them safe, including the battery’s safety circuit.”

Samsung Smartphones Now Use More Recycled Materials

Samsung is using more recycled materials than ever in its phones and other devices, a big improvement for 2024.
Samsung, guided by its 2022 New Environmental Strategy, is working towards net-zero Scope 1 and 2 emissions. They share sustainability reports to highlight their progress in environmental, social, and governance (ESG) challenges.
Achieving net-zero Scope 1 and 2 emissions is a key goal for Samsung, set out in their 2022 New Environmental Strategy. Their sustainability reports communicate how they’re tackling sustainable growth across environmental, social, and governance fronts.
Acknowledging energy as a pivotal element in its manufacturing processes, Samsung has declared its ongoing effort to augment the proportion of renewable energy within its overall consumption, signifying a commitment to sustainable energy growth.
Samsung is taking on this challenge to address the high energy consumption and resulting carbon emissions from the widespread adoption of AI technologies, particularly the continuous power needed for large language model training and operation.
Samsung DX division achieved a 93.4% renewable energy transition rate by the end of last year, maintaining its 2023 level. Simultaneously, the company has reduced its power consumption by 31.5% compared to 2019, while also prioritizing energy efficiency across seven product categories, including smartphones.
Samsung, the South Korean company, has entered into power purchase agreements (PPAs) for its Gumi and Gwangju manufacturing facilities. This strategic move aims to both improve overall energy efficiency and broaden the range of renewable energy sources utilized by the company.

Galaxy S25 Ultra
Samsung’s smartphones and device solutions contribute significantly to its carbon emissions. To address this, the company aims to eliminate all non-recyclable materials from the supply chain and manufacturing of these products by 2025.
Samsung is making tangible progress in its sustainability initiatives. Last year, a notable 31% of the plastic components in Galaxy smartphones and other products were made with recyclable materials. Complementing this, Samsung has broadened the reach of its e-waste collection program, which now serves 80 countries, up from 70 countries just a year ago in 2023.
These are two big milestones, and we may see even more share of recyclable content in mobile devices in 2025 than the past year.
