Galaxy Note 10

Samsung reaffirms itself as a good example in the Android world regarding software updates – we told you about it in the dedicated content – and, while a competitor has decided to take a cue, the South Korean manufacturer Google has started 2023 exactly as it ended 2022: releasing new software updates – including major updates and security patches – and outdoing even Google with releasing new monthly security patches.

Samsung Galaxy A03, F12, Galaxy Note 10, A70, M33 5G: Update news

This collection of software updates for Android smartphones is set solely on Samsung, but also contains certain types of content, both for generations and price ranges, and for innovations included in the updates being delivered.

The Samsung Galaxy A03 and the Samsung Galaxy F12 are not exactly the top models of the South Korean manufacturer, nor are they the most famous, so the fact that the two exponents of the low-cost range are updating to Android 13 in these hours only once Demonstrates again the goodness of software support offered by the brand in question. Going into the details of the update, the Samsung Galaxy A03 is being updated to firmware version A035FXXU2CVL4 from Serbia, which includes Android 13 and One UI 5.0 in the core version (hence lighter than the one present on the more expensive model); There is no dearth of new security patches either. The Samsung Galaxy F12, on the other hand, is getting updated in India (the only market where it is present) to firmware version F127GXXU3CVL4 with Android 13, One UI 5.0, and November 2022 security patch.

Keeping aside the two major updates from this collection, let’s talk about another record from the Korean house: the former Samsung Galaxy Note 10 and Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ flagships are the first Android smartphones to be updated to the January 2023 security patch. Distribution of the new Udepat started in Switzerland and will soon spread to other European countries. Unfortunately, as is often the case, the roll out began so quickly that Samsung has not yet detailed the fixes contained in this new SMR (Security Maintenance Release); In any case, keep following us, as we will bring you the most important information as soon as the update is presented.

Staying on the subject of monthly security patches, we now have to rewind the tape a few months: the cheaper Samsung Galaxy M33 5G (which you can find our review at this link) is getting the November 2022 SMR, rolling out to India with firmware version M336BUXXU3BVL6 in the US and with version M336BXXU3BVL4 in other countries (Indonesia, Holland, Malaysia, Philippines, Russia, Thailand, and Vietnam).

The latest update to know is as the recipient of the old mid-range Samsung Galaxy A70: this model, no longer the first child, is officially included in the list of recipients of the six-monthly update, although Samsung – after has already delivered two updates expected for 2022 – giving Galaxy A70 owners a third. Distribution stopped last December 30 and firmware version A705USQS2DVK1 is available for models locked with Comcast in the United States. The new update includes the December 2022 security patch.

How to update Samsung smartphone

If you’ve gotten to this point, chances are you own one of the Samsung Galaxy A03, Samsung Galaxy F12, Samsung Galaxy Note 10, Samsung Galaxy A70, and Samsung Galaxy M33 5G, and you’re wondering how to get it. When will I get the phone? A new update is described. Well, given that not all updates have been rolled out in Europe – as mentioned in the previous paragraph – you can check for availability via the usual path “Settings> Software update> Download and install”.

Fire-Boltt overtakes Samsung to become world’s second largest smartwatch brand

Samsung smartwatches saw a 15% increase in shipments in North America in Q1, but faced a decline of 15% year-on-year and 21% quarter-on-quarter in other markets. Despite their success in North America, Samsung lost its 2nd place globally to Indian brand Fire-Boltt. Fire-Boltt achieved a 9% shipment share in Q1, narrowly surpassing Samsung, which also had a 9% share. Apple, on the other hand, experienced a drop in global smartwatch shipment share from 32% in Q1 2022 to 26% in Q1 2023, but remained the leader in the smartwatch market.

Huawei’s smartwatch shipments in China declined by 15% in Q1 2023. Despite increased shipments in regions like LATAM, MEA, and India, Huawei lost 9% of its global shipment share. Unfortunately, these efforts were not enough to prevent Huawei from losing its position on the global smartwatch leaderboard.

India’s smartwatch market grew due to affordable options

Fire-Boltt’s victory over Samsung in the global smartwatch market can be attributed to the growth of the smartwatch market in India. While the markets in China, North America, and the rest of the world experienced a decline in smartwatch shipments in Q1 2023, India saw a significant increase from 12% in Q1 2022 to 27% in Q1 2023. Fire-Boltt, being a local brand, emerged as the dominant player in the Indian market.

Fire-Boltt’s success can be attributed to its offering of more affordable smartwatches. Analysts have noted that India’s wearable market experienced a remarkable 121% year-on-year growth, driven by factors such as lower prices, increased customer demand, and the availability of smartwatches covering a wider price range compared to other markets.

The market analysis considers two types of smartwatches: HLOS (High-Level Operating System) smartwatches like the Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 and Apple Watch, as well as basic smartwatches with a lighter OS version that don’t support third-party apps. Basic smartwatches are cheaper and gaining popularity faster, particularly in markets like India. They are increasingly seen as viable alternatives to smart bands, contributing to their growing demand.

Samsung is not regular for Galaxy Watch software updates

Published

By

Galaxy Watch 4

The popularity of Samsung’s smartwatch has increased since the company left the Tizen OS operating system and tied up with Google’s Wear OS system. Samsung’s first Wear OS smartwatch was the Galaxy Watch 4 which was very popular in the market. But somewhere Samsung is not regular to roll out the new software updates for the Galaxy Watches as compared to the Galaxy smartphones.

As we know, the software section of Samsung is very big and great, the company has rolled out new features, fixes, improvements and much more with the OTA for older Galaxy devices. But what about the Galaxy Smartwatches? I am not targeting only the Galaxy Watch 4 series, the company has also lacked to send the new software update for the Galaxy Watch 5 series, which is the new generation wearable device of the company.

As we have seen, Samsung has rollout software updates every month for most of the Galaxy smartphones, in which the users have received new features, device stability improvements, monthly security patches and much more. On the other hand, the Galaxy Watch 4 and Watch 5 are not able to get the monthly patches.

However, they said that the Galaxy smartwatches do not require monthly patch updates. That is why there is no schedule by the company to roll out the firmware update for the Galaxy Watch 4 and Watch 5 every month. On the other hand, the company has only pushed the Wear OS update for the Galaxy Watches which is a major update for users which brings the new features, fixes known issue bugs and turned with the new Wear OS version.

Microsoft SwiftKey’s Bing AI now offers text drafting capabilities on Galaxy devices

Microsoft SwiftKey’s Bing AI

Microsoft is rolling out an update to Samsung Galaxy devices, enhancing the Bing AI within SwiftKey keyboards with a new “Compose” tool. This tool aims to make text composition even smarter and more efficient for users.

With this update, you can expect improved suggestions and predictive capabilities to help you compose text more effectively on your Samsung Galaxy device.

  1. “Searching made simple. Find what you need with SwiftKey’s intuitive Search function.”
  2. “Express yourself effortlessly with SwiftKey’s Tone feature, making communication a breeze.”
  3. “Chat like a pro with SwiftKey’s smart suggestions, helping you compose messages with ease.”
  4. “Experience the power of Bing AI’s Compose tool, automatically drafting text that fits your preferences.”
  5. “Simplicity at your fingertips. SwiftKey’s integrated features work together seamlessly for an effortless typing experience.”

The new Compose feature in Bing AI allows you to provide instructions regarding the tone, format, and length of the draft text you want it to generate.

With this feature, Microsoft aims to assist you by automating the process of writing certain types of text, such as an email to a service provider when you need to address an issue and seek a resolution. By leveraging the Compose tool, you can save time and effort as it takes care of the heavy lifting for you, crafting the text you need while adhering to your specified parameters.

Bing AI has indeed become stronger on Galaxy phones and tablets. While Samsung has decided not to replace Google Search with Bing as the default search engine, Bing AI has been integrated into Microsoft’s SwiftKey keyboard, which comes pre-loaded as an optional keyboard in Samsung’s One UI.

This means that Bing AI is now available on numerous Galaxy devices, although its functionality may vary depending on the user’s location or preference for the Samsung Keyboard.

Bing AI is a generative AI similar to ChatGPT or Google Bard. It has conversational abilities, can generate text, and provide on-the-fly answers using a vast pool of knowledge gathered from the open internet. Its cloud-based infrastructure enables it to tap into a wealth of information and provide helpful responses to user queries.
