Samsung’s updated Calendar app now offers dark/light mode options that can be set independently or follow the phone’s theme. It also displays work profile calendar entries on a paired Galaxy Watch, but it’s unclear if it works with Tizen watches as well.

The updated Samsung Calendar app allows sharing calendars with others and setting permissions for editing entries. To create a shared calendar, go to Calendar Settings > Calendar Management > + Create Shared Calendar. Users can also share calendar invites with a link and edit permissions for existing shared calendars.

At Samsung’s recent Unpacked event, the Galaxy S23 Ultra’s camera stole the spotlight. Its straightforward messaging highlights the camera’s capabilities, making it simple for consumers to understand the device’s photography prowess.

Samsung’s emphasis on enhancing the camera of the Galaxy S23 Ultra had a significant objective: to surpass the iPhone. With the Ultra’s camera frequently being compared to Apple’s, Samsung made a conscious effort to showcase its superior capabilities.

Samsung wanted to beat the iPhone’s cameras

The Galaxy S23 Ultra is Samsung’s first phone with a 200-megapixel camera and better sensors. It has new software and improved AI for better low-light photos and videos.

“Cho Sung-dae is a leader at Samsung’s mobile division. He joined the company in 2004 and has helped improve the cameras in Galaxy phones. He was worried that people thought iPhones had better cameras and wanted to change that.”

He said Samsung did surveys to see what needed to be improved and used the results to make changes on the Galaxy S23 Ultra. The changes were based on what young people said in the surveys.”

“I heard many people saying things like ‘Samsung phone is good for taking photos and Apple is good for videos’ or ‘Samsung is for landscapes, while Apple is for portraits,”

“People in the surveys said they wanted better selfies, so Samsung added fast autofocus and Super HDR to the selfie camera. The AI technology helps take better photos of people’s features like eyes and hair. Cho believes that users won’t be able to tell if a photo was taken on the Galaxy S23 or an iPhone.”

“Initial observations show promise for the Galaxy S23 Ultra’s camera, and we’re excited to do more tests to see how much better it really is.”
