The Mate 70 and Nova 13 series helped HiSilicon Kirin chips sell a lot in the first three months of this year.According to a new Counterpoint report, Huawei’s HiSilicon chips are part of the global smartphone chip sales in early 2025.

The sales performance of global smartphone chip brands in Q1 2025 has been revealed in a new Counterpoint report, which also highlights Huawei’s HiSilicon chip’s place on the shipments list.

In spite of securing the sixth position and 4% of the market, Huawei’s HiSilicon experienced a decline in sales during the first quarter of 2025.

But it looks like the fall off did not  affect the company’s growth much. The report notes that Huawei continues to enjoy a strong brand preference in its home ground.

HiSilicon’s strong Q1 2025 chip shipments are a testament to Huawei’s loyal customers. Even with chip-making challenges, the Nova 13 (with its Kirin 8010 5G) and Mate 70 (with Kirin 9020 5G) series really boosted sales this quarter.

MediaTek’s chip sales are surging, placing them at the top of the Q1 2025 global smartphone chip list with a 26% market share. The Dimensity 8400 is a key factor, driving growth in the mid-to-high chip segment.

In Q1 2025, Qualcomm ranked second in smartphone chip market share (28%), fueled by new flagship processors. Apple was third with 17% of the market, largely propelled by the iPhone 16e’s A18 chip, despite a minor sales downturn.

UNISOC and Samsung hold the fourth and fifth positions respectively. The former owns 10% of the market share while the latter has 5% of the market share.

While UNISOC’s sales are declining, Samsung, the South Korean tech maker, achieved positive growth in shipments this quarter, largely thanks to strong sales of its Galaxy A26 and A56 series.

Galaxy A series One UI 8

Good news for Galaxy users! Samsung is testing its new One UI 8 (based on Android 16) on the Galaxy S25, and they are bringing it to other phones like the Galaxy A56 very soon for testing. Several flagships are already testing One UI 8 internally, and now, the latest Galaxy A series phone, the Galaxy A56, has joined them.

A tech insider, @tarunvats33, has revealed that Samsung has started testing its upcoming One UI 8 software on the Galaxy A56 phone. The specific test version is called A566BXXU4BYF7, and it’s currently appearing on phones in Europe. This means the Galaxy A56 is getting ready for a big update.

This first test version shows that Samsung is actively working on the One UI 8 update for the Galaxy A56. This is exciting because it means the A56 might get this big new update even before some other Galaxy phones.

So, here’s the thing. we do not know for sure if the Galaxy A56 will get a beta for One UI 8. Remember how Galaxy A55 users could try out One UI 7 early? Well, some folks are saying that the One UI 8 beta might only be for a select group of phones this time around.

Right now, only Galaxy S25 users are trying out the new features through a beta program. Other top phones like the Galaxy S24 series, Galaxy Z Flip 6, and Galaxy Z Fold 6 are still waiting for their turn to get the beta update.

Samsung will share its detailed One UI 8 plans soon. A key detail already known is that the final One UI 8 will debut alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7 during the Galaxy Unpacked Event in July 2025.

Basically, One UI 8 will make your Galaxy A56 feel even more advanced and tailored to you!
