If Huawei is not banned in the US, it could be the best smartphone company like Apple, there is no Samsung

If the United States had not imposed restrictions and bans on Huawei, the company would have ranked alongside Apple and Samsung. According to Yu Chengdong, Huawei CEO of Smart Device and Consumer Business Group and CEO of Huawei Smart Car Business Unit, if the US ban is lifted, Huawei and Apple will be the best companies in the market.

The commercial ban imposed by the United States on Huawei put the Chinese conglomerate to the test, exposing it to enormous organizational challenges (particularly in locating the necessary components), causing the company to lose a significant portion of its market share and the recognition earned through years of hard work.

The US ban came at a time when Huawei was trailing Samsung in the rankings of the major smartphone manufacturers and made no secret of its desire to overtake Samsung, upsetting the situation in a matter of months.

TelegramThe CEO of Huawei is back to discuss the US ban:

Richard Yu, CEO of Huawei Consumer Business Group, reflected on the events of three years ago, claiming that without American “interference,” the smartphone industry would be quite different now, with Apple and Huawei as the leading producers.

The remark made by Richard Yu is most puzzling because it leaves out Samsung, who is currently leading the market and was at the time the US commercial ban was in effect.

The other telephony companies, like Samsung, whose handsets “may be sold primarily in the United States and South Korea,” appear to be simply “minor producers” in the eyes of the Chinese executive.

In essence, as mentioned by Richard Yu, the Chinese giant would have had the road built for ever more amazing growth after it overtook Samsung which in Huawei’s plans should have taken place between 2019 and 2020. Only Apple would have been able to stay up with him.

It would be fascinating to hear Samsung’s management’s response to the CEO of Huawei’s words at this time, as it is likely to have caused at least minor dissatisfaction to be referred to as “a little manufacturer” despite long-standing unchallenged leadership.

Huawei plans to develop a new version of its Celia assistant, featuring upgrades like 5.5G and AI capabilities. The company announced this at the 2024 Mobile Communications High-Quality Development Forum on June 7.

At the event, Huawei’s Senior Vice President, Cao Jibin, discussed how teamwork can usher in the era of 5G-A technology in the region.

Cao also announced that Huawei plans to develop a new Celia super assistant with 5.5G network technology and advanced AI features.

This new Celia assistant will be built on the Pangu AI large model. Since Huawei is set to launch the Pangu Model 5.0 at HDC 2024, this technology is expected to be integrated into the new assistant app.

Currently, the Celia voice assistant uses Large Language Model (LLM) AI and advanced algorithms. However, Huawei aims to make it even smarter and more efficient for users. Cao believes these enhancements will better meet users’ needs.

“Huawei is the first company to introduce AI into smartphones. In the next step, we will build Celia into a super assistant based on the Pangu model, integrating the capabilities of 5G + AI to provide users with better devices.” – says Cao Jibin.

Apart from the Celia assistant, Cao Jibin discussed the benefits of 5G-A technology, also known as 5.5G. This advanced network offers faster, more stable, and more functional mobile communication compared to previous versions.

Over the next 5-10 years, 5G-A will become more powerful and benefit individual users, families, offices, and other settings. It will also boost digital transformation and introduce various AI facilities for customers.

Cao mentioned that the demand for smart technologies will increase by 100 times, and AI computing will grow by 500 times. Despite slow progress in chip production, he is optimistic about future improvements.
