The Galaxy Watch 4 still doesn’t have the best Wear OS One feature it’s still missing

Published

Galaxy Watch 4

Galaxy Watch users might not like it, but it is true that the best Wear OS feature that is still missing in the Galaxy Watch 4 is Google Assistant, which is the feature that many users talk about and complain about. We do. Once we pointed out this shortcoming and complained about it but we didn’t get to see it. But I would say it is time to start complaining again.

We were both disappointed and excited when we first heard about Samsung’s switch to Wear OS for the Galaxy Watch 4 and Watch 4 Classic. We’re disappointed because we’ve been worried for years that Samsung’s smartwatches would lose their excellent battery life, but we’re excited because we’ll finally be able to access that massive app library that’s not based on any other OS. On Android, Samsung’s Tizen platform is a popular comparison.

Naturally, we anticipated that Google Assistant, a voice assistant that everyone wants to be able to use, would be available on the new watches as well. However, we’re still limited to Bixby on our Galaxy Watch 4S and Galaxy Watch 4 Classics nearly four months later, and no one knows why.

And it’s not like Google Assistant is a health feature that needs to be approved locally in each country before being activated on the watch, like an ECG or blood pressure monitor. Customers in many parts of the world are missing out on those health features, and we can’t blame Samsung entirely given how slow governments can be with regulatory approvals.

Well, we can understand that Google Assistant not being available on Galaxy Watch 4 and Galaxy Watch 4 Classic is not Samsung’s fault.

Google is the one catching things up. But considering Samsung and Google are working on developing the new Wear OS 3 platform together, we should have had Google Assistant on the Watch 4 on day one. But here we are, four months later, and Bixby has everything you’ve got. We can only hope that by the end of the year Samsung will send Google Assistant.

Galaxy Watch 4 and the Watch 4 Classic is getting a new firmware update

Galaxy Watch 5

Recently Samsung has released a new firmware update for the Galaxy Watch 4 series. This update does not include any significant changes or achievements. Nor is a new security patch included. This is a minor release, available in South Korea for the Galaxy Watch 4 and Watch 4 Classic.

According to the changelog, the update only improves system stability for the Galaxy Watch 4 Duo. The update comes with the (August) 2022 security patch that Samsung released for its 2021 smartwatch last month.

The size of the new update is around 185MB and it comes with firmware version R8xxXXU1GVI3. While availability appears to be limited to South Korea at the moment, Galaxy Watch 4 users in other markets should gain access to the firmware as soon as possible.

If you own a Galaxy Watch 4 in South Korea, keep an eye on the Galaxy Wearable app installed on your connected smartphone. But again, don’t set your expectations too high for this latest release. This update has been released for security purposes only.

Daily Deal: Galaxy Watch 5 is available in great offers on Amazon

Galaxy Watch 5

It took a collaborative effort from Google and Samsung to bring Wear OS back to life with last year’s Galaxy Watch 4 series smartwatches, and now it’s up to the new Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 to pick up that heavy legacy and continue on the path to success; a task that is far from easy, but offers like the one currently available on Amazon help to simplify things at least a little.

Speaking of offers and Samsung, we just reported the delectable promotion with DAZN as a gift for those who purchase the South Korean brand’s new flagships; however, we had seen the discount for the Galaxy S22 range yesterday. As for Amazon, don’t forget that in a couple of weeks there will be Prime Exclusive Offers and in the meantime, there is a great way to pass the wait.

Galaxy Watch 5 variants are available on Amazon with great offers:

We’re back on Amazon, and this time we’re talking about Samsung-branded wearables, specifically a single model (albeit in several variants): the Samsung Galaxy Watch 5. The new “base” model, which was officially announced last August 10 alongside the more ambitious and expensive Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 Pro, aspires to replicate the success of the still very valid and increasingly less expensive Galaxy Watch 4.

Achieving such an ambition is far from easy, and one impediment can be represented by the predecessor, which is still technically up to date but is now available at much lower prices. As a result, the success of the Galaxy Watch 5 must also be based on offers that pique the interest of potential buyers.

At the time of writing, Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 is on offer on Amazon in a Bluetooth-only version but in the two formats of 40 mm and 44 mm, and in both cases, it has reached new historical lows on the platform.

The smaller model is available for purchase at a price of 217 euros in two colors – only the Graphite one costs a few euros more, but is still at the lowest price reached so far – with a discount of 27% compared to the official price list (299 EUR).

The 44 mm version, on the other hand, can be purchased at the price of 231.09 euros in the Sapphire color alone, discounted by 30% compared to the official price list (329 euros). Below you can check the direct links to buy all the discounted versions.

  3. Samsung Galaxy Watch5 40 mm Bluetooth Graphite for 221 euros
  4. Samsung Galaxy Watch5 44 mm Bluetooth Sapphire at € 231.09

Unfortunately, the offer that also saw Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 Pro LTE at a minimum has ended and at present, the most attractive model is the Bluetooth one in Gray Titanium at 371 euros (against an official price list of 499 euros). If you are interested, you can find it at this link:

All products listed are sold and shipped by Amazon, with Prime shipping (free for subscribers) and the usual great customer service.
