Cyberpunk’s latest patch affects PS4, PS4 Pro and PS5

As we know, Cyberpunk 2077 is back on the PlayStation store. And just some time ago its patch update has also come, and the new patch appears to have improved its performance across PS4, PS4 Pro, and PS5.

The most recent Cyberpunk 2077 patch notes 1.23 detailed solutions for several mission issues as well as the replacement of duplicated NPCs. The patch also addressed issues with animation crashes, the UI, and many gameplay components.

Cyberpunk 2077 was removed from the PlayStation Store in December 2020. Due to a number of game-breaking bugs and other performance concerns, Now again re-added to the PlayStation Store a few days ago.

In fact, the firm explicitly advised gamers to forgo the PS4 version in favor of the PS4 Pro or PS5. 
The PlayStation Store goes even farther, with a warning preventing users from purchasing the game with the standard PlayStation 4.
This brings us to Digital Foundry’s long video comparing Cyberpunk 2077’s performance on the basic PS4, PS4 Pro, and PS5 following patch 1.23. According to the testing, the frame rate of the standard PS4 has improved overall, but it is still “far, far from where it needs to be, especially in combat or busy streets.” While the basic PS4 hangs in the high 20fps range and frequently approaches 30fps, graphically intensive regions, and scenarios will struggle to stay in the 20fps range at all. There is still a slew of problems and visual anomalies, such as hitching and stuttering, and NPCs on busy streets not properly displaying.
On the PS4 Pro, however, the game runs at an almost constant 30 frames per second. According to Digital Foundry, this was largely the case after patch 1.20, so there isn’t much of a difference with the current patch. Some things, however, continue to emerge far too late, such as an adversary who comes directly in front of the player, blasting away with their rifle. According to Digital Foundry, there is still a “tangible increase” in overall performance, despite some persistent aesthetic issues. “With each subsequent update, it appears to grow closer to the mark,” says the video.
Finally, Cyberpunk 2077 looks and feels the best on PS5, which is predictable but still disappointing given it is running on last-gen hardware. The game regularly runs at 60 frames per second, although patch 1.23 appears to have concentrated primarily on older computers, since there aren’t much differences on PS5 – which still runs very well, especially considering its 60fps capabilities are merely a “temporary fix.” The actual Cyberpunk 2077 PS5 and Xbox Series X update is due later this year and will provide a full new-gen experience, so if you’ve been on the fence, you might want to wait a little longer.
