Galaxy A joins One UI 8 pre-release testing

Good news for Galaxy users! Samsung is testing its new One UI 8 (based on Android 16) on the Galaxy S25, and they are bringing it to other phones like the Galaxy A56 very soon for testing. Several flagships are already testing One UI 8 internally, and now, the latest Galaxy A series phone, the Galaxy A56, has joined them.
A tech insider, @tarunvats33, has revealed that Samsung has started testing its upcoming One UI 8 software on the Galaxy A56 phone. The specific test version is called A566BXXU4BYF7, and it’s currently appearing on phones in Europe. This means the Galaxy A56 is getting ready for a big update.
This first test version shows that Samsung is actively working on the One UI 8 update for the Galaxy A56. This is exciting because it means the A56 might get this big new update even before some other Galaxy phones.
So, here’s the thing. we do not know for sure if the Galaxy A56 will get a beta for One UI 8. Remember how Galaxy A55 users could try out One UI 7 early? Well, some folks are saying that the One UI 8 beta might only be for a select group of phones this time around.
Right now, only Galaxy S25 users are trying out the new features through a beta program. Other top phones like the Galaxy S24 series, Galaxy Z Flip 6, and Galaxy Z Fold 6 are still waiting for their turn to get the beta update.
Samsung will share its detailed One UI 8 plans soon. A key detail already known is that the final One UI 8 will debut alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7 during the Galaxy Unpacked Event in July 2025.
Basically, One UI 8 will make your Galaxy A56 feel even more advanced and tailored to you!

Huawei: HarmonyOS PCs will support sideloading.

Good news for HarmonyOS PC users! You will soon be able to sideload apps on your devices. Huawei recently confirmed this change, making it easier to install apps and offering better improvements for their computer lineup.
Huawei’s tablet and PC boss, Zhu Dongdong, shared some news: upcoming HarmonyOS computers will let you install apps from outside their official store.
Sideloading means installing apps on your phone or computer from places other than the official app store. Think of it like getting an app from a friend’s website or another app store instead of the one built into your device.
Sideloading is useful when you can not find a specific app in your device’s app store or if you want to use a modified version. Just remember, installing apps this way can sometimes expose your data to security risks.
In accordance with Huawei’s Zhu Dongdong, while HarmonyOS PCs will gain app sideloading capabilities, it is not happening immediately. He emphasized that building a highly secure environment for notebooks is a top priority, and sideloading will only become an option after those security enhancements are fully implemented.
We will be able to sideload apps on our computers, but we need to improve them first. It is a gradual process. We can do it, it’s just not enabled for everyone yet. Once our features and security are strong, and enough people are using our products, we will make it possible.
“Initially, HarmonyOS PCs did not support app sideloading because of ongoing challenges with security and product development. However, the company is optimistic that future improvements will enable this feature.
Get ready! HarmonyOS PCs will soon let you install apps that are not from their official app store.

Huawei MateBook Fold to Add New Display Mode with HarmonyOS

The Huawei MateBook Fold PC is getting a cool new display feature soon! A company official recently shared that the foldable PC will receive screen upgrades through an upcoming software update.
Good news for Huawei MateBook Fold PC owners! Bruce Lee, who is a top tech boss at Huawei (CTO of their Device Business Group), announced today that the MateBook Fold will get a cool new “DP in” display mode. This means you will be able to use your MateBook Fold as an external screen for other devices, making visuals even better.

DisplayPort (or just DP) is a type of digital connection, mostly used to hook up a computer to a monitor. It’s really good at sending lots of information quickly, which means you get super clear pictures and smooth motion on your screen.
The best part of DisplayPort over HDMI is that the latter supports only one monitor. However, the DP can support multiple monitors at the same time without interruptions.
Bruce Lee confirmed that the MateBook Fold is already built to handle this “DP in” mode. This means you can actually use its big 18-inch screen as a portable display for other devices. He also mentioned you could even connect a handheld game console to it for a better gaming experience.
Even though this “DisplayPort in” feature for the MateBook Fold is still being tested, Huawei has confirmed it will be released soon. You will get it through upcoming updates to their HarmonyOS software.
