Huawei’s Pura 80 Series Gets Extreme Battery Upgrade

Huawei’s Pura 80 series is a prime example of both exceptional camera technology and outstanding battery endurance. The company has continually pushed the boundaries of smartphone battery life, and these recently launched devices clearly demonstrate that achievement.
Batteries are a crucial part of smartphones. Reason? They offer a portable power source that lets your handset run and function seamlessly throughout the day.
Huawei has really stepped up its game when it comes to smartphone batteries. Over the past few years, they’ve worked hard to prevent issues like quick draining. They’ve also made charging much faster, boosting it from 66W to 80W, and now even to 100W.
Huawei Pura 80 Series:
Battery:
The Pura 80 series has four different models. Usually, companies put bigger batteries in their top-tier phones and smaller ones in the entry-level versions. However, this time, Huawei did things a bit differently.
It is a bit unusual this time. Huawei gave the Pura 80 Ultra, Pro+, and Pro a 5700mAh battery. The basic Pura 80 still gets a big 5600mAh battery. So, all the new Pura 80 phones have excellent battery capacity.
The Pura 80 Ultra and Pro models come with a huge 5700mAh battery, promising a super long battery life. Even the standard Pura 80 boasts an extra-large battery and super-fast charging. This means you can use these phones for hours without worrying about them running out of power.
Comparatively:
The Huawei Pura 70 Ultra had the biggest battery in its family, at 5200mAh. Here’s what the other models in that series had:
- Pura 70 Pro+: 5050mAh
- Pura 70 Pro: 5050mAh
- Pura 70: 4900mAh
Pura 80 Series:
Charging:
For the higher-end Pura 80 Ultra, Pro+, and Pro models, you get:
- Super fast wired charging: 100W
- Wireless charging: 80W
- Reverse wired charging: 18W (meaning you can use your phone to charge another device with a cable)
However, the standard Pura 80 model has slightly different charging speeds:
- Wired charging: 66W
- Wireless charging: 50W
- Reverse wired charging: 5W
- It also has reverse wireless charging.
The previous Pura 70 series generally offered 100W wired, 18W wired reverse, 80W wireless, and 20W wireless reverse charging.
Even the basic Pura 80 model, with its 5600mAh battery, offers seriously fast charging: 66W wired, 5W wired reverse (to charge other devices with a cable), and 50W wireless. It also has wireless reverse charging, so you can charge other wireless devices just by placing them on the phone.
Pura 70 series supported a 100W wired, 18W wired reverse, 80W wireless, and 20W wireless reverse charging. The standard model has the same specs as the Pura 80 series.

Android 16 released, when is Samsung One UI 8 coming?

Android 16 is here now, and it came out sooner than expected on June 10, 2025. But if you have a Samsung Galaxy phone, you’ll still have to wait a bit longer for One UI 8.
Samsung is working fast on a test version of One UI 8. However, the final version for everyone to use might still be a month or two away. It is likely that the official release will happen around the same time Samsung launches its new foldable phones, the Galaxy Z Fold7 and Z Flip7. Let’s see what this means for Samsung phone users.
The first test version of Android 16 came out in January 2025. Google worked very quickly, and because of that, a really good version of Android 16 is ready much earlier than usual. It has smoother movements, better AI features, and stronger security.
Android 16’s first test version came out in January 2025.Google worked fast, so Android 16 is ready early. It has smoother animations, better AI, and stronger security.
For Samsung, this early release of Android 16 is both good and a bit tricky. The company has been working closely with Google to make sure their own software, One UI 8, works well with the new Android 16. This teamwork is really helping them out.
Samsung says One UI 8 will be out “this summer” (June-August) in the US. However, while Google’s Pixel phones already have Android 16, Galaxy users are still in the test phase or waiting for the official release.
Samsung wasted no time kicking off the One UI 8 Beta Program, launching it on May 28, 2025, for the Galaxy S25, S25+, and S25 Ultra in Germany, South Korea, the UK, and the US. This is Samsung’s earliest beta release yet.
Samsung has confirmed that the stable One UI 8 update will first come on their new foldable phones, the Galaxy Z Fold7 and Z Flip7, when they launch this summer. These new foldables will have One UI 8 and Android 16 right away. Other Galaxy phones will get the One UI 8 update shortly after the foldables are released.
The Galaxy S25 series, which is already in the beta testing program, could see the stable update as early as August, with the S24, S23, and other flagships like the Z Fold6 and Z Flip6 close behind.
Why the Wait?
Android 16 is here, but Galaxy users still wait for One UI 8. That’s because One UI 8 adds Samsung’s own new features, like a better Now Brief and Quick Share. Testing these on all Samsung phones takes time.
Samsung is making sure One UI 8 is better by testing it early and rolling it out in stages. This avoids the problems they had with One UI 7, giving all users a more stable update, even if it takes a bit more time.
What’s Next for Galaxy Users?
If you have an S25 and are in a test region, you can join the One UI 8 Beta now.
Otherwise, you’ll need to wait for the final release.
The new Galaxy Z Fold7 or Z Flip7 will have One UI 8 already installed when they launch, probably in late July or early August.
For everyone else, keep an eye on the Samsung Members app for news on when you will get it.
