Brazil: Apple will pay $2 million Fine for not including charger in iPhone 12 box
Apple will pay a $2 million fine for not giving a charger to its iPhone 12 series and this is a major setback for the Apple company. Procon-SP, the Brazilian consumer protection regulator based in São Paulo state has fined Apple on March 19, 2021.
The fine is approx $2 million (R$ 10,5 million) “for misleading advertising, according to consumer protection the company has sold its devices (iPhone 12 series) without the charger and its an unfair according to the term. The users have must need the charger under the smartphone and the company will provide the charger without any cost. This is not the first time Procon-SP questioned Apple about its new policy.
In the month of October last year, Apple came under the scanner the consumer protection regulator questioned the company about it and in November 2020, the agency has said that Apple has did not shown the demonstrate environmental gain.
Now, the iPhone 12 series has launched without the charger, when the Procon says that Apple maker for the price of iPhone 12 with charger or without charger difference then the company has didn’t responded. According to that, if the company has reduced the number of chargers produced then the price of the iPhone should be lower while the cost of the charger should be reduced.
Moreover, the iPhone 12 mini costs $729 in the U.S and the company has launched the same iPhone in brazil with a cost of around $1,200. There is a huge difference in the price of the iPhone 12 mini in both countries. When Apple has launched the iPhone 11 in 2019, the device has launched at $799 in the US while Brazil users have purchased this device for around $1,200. The depreciation of the Brazilian Real and the pandemic helped to increase the U.S. dollar over Brazil’s currency.

Apple has started rolling out the new firmware update for the AirPods 2, AirPods 3, AirPods Pro, AirPods Pro 2, and AirPods Max. The latest update comes in beta form and it bumps with the new build number 5B5040c.
Since WWDC in June, Apple has been providing beta firmware updates for AirPods. The beta firmware requires an iPhone running iOS 16, a Mac running macOS Ventura beta, Xcode 14, and suitable AirPods to install.
