Take a first look at Android 12’s new lock screen and notifications UI

Google has going to launch the latest Android 12 version later this year and today (February 19, 2021) Google has released the first Android 12 developer preview for its Pixel devices. The latest version available for Google Pixel 3 and newly launched devices by Google. Meanwhile, this update needs to update manually by flashing your device. Google has promised it will release the beta program of this latest version for Android users later this year.
In this Android 12 developer Preview, lots of new changes, features and much more things spotted. Apart from this, the latest version including some changes to the UI for notifications and it brings the new screen look setup. In this article, our DNS team provides you the changes did by Google with this latest Android version.
Google has started an experiment with this latest Android 12 version and it seems with this first developer Preview, in the department of the design and layout of the lock screen shown some possible changes. The digital clock front-and-center in the middle, hours are now above the minutes and the font is enormous.
However, the Glance widget has been moved to the top left corner. If your device received any notification then your home screen clock shrinks and moves to the top right of the lock screen. On the Always-on Display, notification icons are displayed in the top left underneath the At A Glance widget rather than in the center.
The other changes of this latest version come with the notifications panel, Instead of the most transparent background of the current UI, Google is instead testing an opaque background that matches your day/night theme. The background color may match your wallpaper once Android 12’s rumored theming system goes live.
If so, that would explain the light beige background shown off in the design mockups we posted. In any case, we’ve confirmed that Google is working on a wallpaper-based theming system under the code-name “monet”, but we haven’t managed to activate it yet.
Alongside the opaque background, this latest version comes with a thicker brightness bar and compare to the Stock Android’s, we have seen the changes to the brightness bar while the Stock Android’s bar is thin while the new design is more of a thick pill.
As per the report of the XDAdevelopers, Google’s in-development changes broke notifications when we enabled them. It seems that Google is working on a new notification pipeline and also a two-column notification UI, the latter of which we previously revealed. We weren’t able to get the new notification pipeline or layout working with the other UI changes, but we’ll keep trying in this and future Previews.

How some countries are misusing Google’s AI Tool, Gemini

Google’s AI tool, Gemini, is designed with safety measures to prevent misuse. However, government-backed groups from countries like China, Iran, North Korea, and Russia have attempted to exploit it for harmful purposes. These groups, known as Advanced Persistent Threats (APTs), have used Gemini to gather information on military and intelligence targets, understand software weaknesses, and assist in coding tasks.
Additionally, Information Operations (IO) groups from these nations have utilized Gemini for translation, refining the tone of their messages, and disguising their true identities to operate secretly.
Despite these attempts, Google reports that most efforts to misuse Gemini have been unsuccessful. Many have tried to bypass Gemini’s safety protocols using known methods, but these attempts have largely failed.
This situation highlights the challenges in preventing AI misuse. While Google has been effective in stopping direct harmful actions through Gemini, malicious actors can still use the AI’s capabilities to support their activities in less obvious ways. This underscores the need for ongoing vigilance and improvement in AI safety measures.
