Xiaomi 16 Pro be getting the same camera as the Huawei Mate 80?
Leaks say the Xiaomi 16 Pro could get a SmartSens 50MP camera, likely to rival the same sensor in the Huawei Mate 80.
A leak from FixedFocus suggests that the Xiaomi 16 Pro might be getting the same camera sensor as the Huawei Mate 80 Pro+ or RS Ultimate Design. We’re talking about the SmartSens 50MP SC590XS, which could mean a serious camera battle is brewing between these two rivals.
Leaks reveal the Huawei Mate 80 Pro+ will use the 50MP SmartSens SC590XS camera, which features a 1/1.28-inch sensor with 1.2µm pixels, 22nm tech, and 110dB dynamic range.
While OmniVision camera sensors can be quite pricey, SmartSens offers a great alternative. You get impressive photo quality at a much more accessible price, proving you don’t always have to pay a premium for good performance.
Perhaps the cost-effectiveness and latest cutting-edge technologies of the SmartSens camera sensors are the major reasons why Xiaomi is opting for them.

Xiaomi 16 Pro
A huge camera battle could be brewing between the two flagships. The twist is that the new SmartSens camera might use Huawei’s RYYB filter, which takes in more light than a regular RGB filter.
While both phones are rumored to use the same sensor, the addition of Huawei’s RYYB filter could give the Mate 80 Pro+ and RS Ultimate a slight edge. This might result in a bit brighter, sharper, and clearer photos than those from the Xiaomi 16 Pro.
Huawei uses its self-developed variable aperture that increases the amount of light that passes through the sensors. This particular step improves the overall light performance in photography, giving dynamic results even in low-light scenes.
Update
Think of HyperOS 3 as a slightly altered version of MagicOS 9.
Xiaomi just dropped HyperOS 3, claiming it’s a huge step forward. But it’s kind of a joke—it’s basically a clone of MagicOS 9, and the “new” features have been around on phones from Honor and other companies for a while now.
Beyond the updated UI and improved privacy features, HyperOS 3.0’s real strength lies in its performance optimizations. It takes device performance to a whole new level. For example it..
- Increased app launch speed by 21%
- Improved video playback performance by 10%
- Enhanced game frame rate by 15%
- Reduced touch response latency by 9%
It now offers smoother animations in around 100 scenarios such as visual effects, app swapping, transitions, and more, making the device fluid and more responsive.
The Revamp of HyperOS 3
HyperOS 3 introduces a lot of visual and functional changes, including a new Face ID design, Super Island, redesigned UI elements and icons, and smarter AI features. However, many of these updates are heavily inspired by or are similar to features already present in Apple’s iOS and Honor’s MagicOS.

Xiaomi HyperOS
The new Face ID and Super Island in HyperOS 3.0 are strongly reminiscent of iOS 26’s features. In addition, certain Super Island functionalities appear to be direct parallels to those found in Magic Capsule.
On the flip side, the biggest upgrade is interconnectivity with Apple devices. Well, in this case, Honor is the first brand to link its devices with iPhone and Mac models via AI Connect technology. Now Xiaomi has joined the trend.
Xiaomi HyperOS PC lets you run phone apps with full multitasking on your Mac, allowing up to three app windows at once. It also syncs notifications, mirrors and lets you reply to apps, and gives you quick access to your location and a one-tap hotspot.
Ironically, Honor already offers these options to its flagship models and may bring them to more devices in the future.
On top of everything else, HyperOS 3 is using AI features that look suspiciously like what MagicOS 9 already has. We’re talking about things like the intelligent context-aware features, one-step app launching, and the screen circle function.
HyperOS 3 brings some nice upgrades to Xiaomi devices, but let’s be honest—a lot of its “innovations” are just copies of features from iOS and MagicOS.

Xiaomi Flagship Could Get Huawei Pura 80 Ultra Camera Specs.
Xiaomi’s upcoming 16 Ultra might borrow the main camera from Huawei’s Pura 80 Ultra to boost its photo quality. It seems the Pura 80 Ultra’s camera is impressive enough to catch the attention of competitors like Xiaomi.
A social media rumor from @That_Kartikey suggests that Xiaomi’s upcoming flagship phone will use camera parts from a company called SmartSens. Because Huawei’s Pura 80 Ultra also uses a SmartSens camera, some people online are saying that Xiaomi might be trying to copy Huawei’s camera technology.

Xiaomi 16 ultra may copy paste Camera Huawei Pura 80 Ultra
SmartSens Technology, a Chinese firm, is a leader in high-performance CMOS image sensors. They offer cutting-edge imaging solutions and are continuously innovating their product line with better lens components.
Originally, there were rumors that Huawei’s Pura 80 Ultra would use a specific camera sensor called SC5A0CA. This meant that Huawei was supposedly switching from using camera sensors made by Sony and Samsung to using ones from SmartSens instead.

Keeping that in mind, the upcoming Xiaomi 16 Ultra might adopt the same main camera specs as the Huawei Pura 80 Ultra. Note that these details still require an official confirmation.
Pura 80 Ultra’s main camera: 50MP, one-inch sensor, f/1.6-f/4.0 aperture, and OIS for high dynamic range
The Pura 80 Ultra’s main camera takes much better photos than the Pura 70 Ultra, especially in bright and dark areas – 15 times better, in fact! It captures every detail, making pictures look vibrant and deep. The extra multi-spectral lens just makes it even better.
Huawei has enhanced the main camera with “triple real-time fusion technology,” significantly improving video performance. This new tech allows the camera to intelligently frame shots and automatically switch focal lengths, helping users find and capture more beautiful video angles.
Xiaomi might choose this new camera sensor for its next top phone because of these great features.
